A Separate Piece Chapter 1
Chapter One was very short. It kind of just gave a background of the main character, Okonkwo. I think that Okonkwo hides his feelings and is seen as very harsh and strict. I also think that he has some issues with his father, Unoka, that died. He seems to be embarassed of how lazy his father was and how he lived. Okonkwo is trying to make up for the failure that his father was. He worked hard to get to the respectable position that he is at in the village. A boy named Ikemefuna is brought up. Who is he and why is he important?

Hey Soup, chapter one was pretty short. I thought it was pretty boring also. I feel the same way about Okonkwo as you do. I think he is embarassed of his father and i think he is trying to be a better person that what his father was, which is good. Ikemefuna is brought up later in book, he ends up living with Okonkwo and his family, but I am not really sure who the boy is?
I agree with you a lot about how Okonkwo hides his feelings and tries to put on a show for everyone. And I also liked the shortness of the chapters, ha. Okonkwo definitely has issues with his father, you'll see more about that later.
